About

Tobias Rinsche

Every marketing job I’ve taken has been a building job. Twice I built the team itself, in one case from a single marketer to fifteen. Four times I inherited a team and rebuilt what it was for: new positioning, new playbooks, new numbers to hit, and lately new answers to which of that work still needs a person. Right now I run a full marketing function with no team at all, with AI doing the production work. Whatever the starting point, the job is the same: build the process, the team, and the story the company needs for the moment it’s in, and make sure they hold at ten times the size.

Lately the building includes the tools themselves. I write the integrations that run my campaigns and decide, case by case, where the machine stops and a person takes over. I’m also the founder of MindMechanics, an AI consultancy.

2025 – present

VP of Marketing

A vertical SaaS platform in healthcare

Owned. The entire marketing function, solo: paid media in-house across five channels, lifecycle, content, brand, and the AI systems that run them. Lead volume up 5x at 40% lower cost per lead; closed-won rate up from 50% to 70%.

Learned. A sole operator with the right systems can out-ship the eight-person teams I used to run. What doesn’t scale is judgment, so judgment is where the hours go now.

2024 – 2025

Head of Marketing

A localization technology company

Owned. The full function and a team of three managers. Hired to reposition a legacy vendor as an AI leader and ready the company for acquisition. Strongest new-business quarter in two years within six months; the acquisition closed in early 2025.

Learned. Positioning is a claim you have to defend in the diligence room. We called the product AI-first because we could show it working, and the acquirer checked.

2022 – 2023

Chief Marketing Officer

A multilingual customer-support AI company

Owned. The full marketing function, an inherited two-person team, and the agency bench. Marketing-sourced pipeline went from 7% to nearly 70% of the total in six months; website traffic grew 20x.

Learned. At a startup, speed of proof beats completeness of plan. The pipeline number moved because we shipped weekly and killed what didn’t work without ceremony.

2019 – 2022

Chief Marketing Officer

A risk-intelligence data company

Owned. First CMO. Grew marketing from a single hire to a team of fifteen through a Series B and C. Inbound went from 20 to 3,000+ qualified leads a month, and marketing contributed over 70% of pipeline value.

Learned. Brand compounds. The identity we built then is still in use four years later, and it did as much for the fundraises as the pipeline numbers did.

2018 – 2019

Senior Marketing Manager, Acquisition, Growth & ABM

A global research and advisory firm’s software marketplace

Owned. A team of marketers running acquisition, growth, and ABM programs aimed at the software vendors on the marketplace and the leaders and marketers inside those companies; roughly 850 additional qualified leads a month on an operation that was already performing.

Learned. How analysts and enterprise buyers evaluate vendors, from inside the building. I’ve drawn on that in every CMO role since.

2016 – 2018

Senior Manager, Multi-Channel Demand Generation

A global molecular diagnostics company

Owned. North America demand generation for clinical diagnostics, with one team inherited through a reorg and a second built from scratch. Launches marketed to nurses, hospital administrators, and physicians at once.

Learned. One product can need three message frames, because the nurse, the administrator, and the doctor are each buying something different. Regulated, long-cycle marketing taught me a discipline startups never would have.

2012 – 2016

Senior Manager, Digital Marketing

A Fortune 500 services company

Owned. The North American digital operation of a $5B procurement subsidiary, including a $1M web platform serving 30,000 customers, delivered on time and on budget, and the team built to run it.

Learned. At that scale nothing ships without alignment, so I learned to treat internal stakeholders as an audience of their own. It made every later board conversation easier.

2000 – 2012

Marketing Director, then VP Sales & Marketing

A machine-translation pioneer

Owned. Marketing from London, then U.S. operations and global marketing, across twelve years and five generations of the company’s website. I started marketing machine translation in 2002.

Learned. I’ve now sold three generations of language AI: rule-based, statistical, and neural. The buyers ask the same questions every time. Only the demo changes.

Dates and titles are on LinkedIn, which is the formal record.
